These include an edition of Sir Walter Ralegh’s The Cabinet-Council (1658), a second edition of A Defence of the People of England (1658), The History of Britain (1670), Letters Patents of the Election of this Present King of Poland, a translation (1674), and A Brief History of Moscovia (1682).

Meyer’s poem was written against the backdrop of the Franco-Prussian War. Milton’s influence has been shed productively not only on poetry but also upon drama and the novel. George Farquhar’s The Beaux Stratagem.
